Commander Kronus, who destroyed three base ships, is promoted to Executive Commander of three ships including his own, Celestra. At the ceremony, Starbuck recognizes his old flame Aurora, pilot of the Celestra, whom he believed to be dead. They can't understand why each didn't try to find the other, and part to their own ships with hurt feelings. Starbuck says, that he wants to go to the Celestra for a maintenance scan, but he really wants to reconcile things between himself and Aurora. Something is brewing, as Aurora, and her crew mates, arm themselves for a raid, the results of which become apparent, when the Celestra looses her thrusters, and must be left behind to make repairs. Apollo and Starbuck, land on the Celestra, and are met by Aurora, and her mates, while battling it out with crew personnel loyal to Kronus. A tense moment, as Starbuck and Aurora stand off, weapons trained on each other. Aurora can't kill Starbuck, even for a cause she has come to believe in. Aurora and her mates, surrender their arms, and are taken captive. A shuttle with Starbuck, Apollo, Kronus, and the prisoners, take off on a false heading supplied by Chakra, who is in a hurry to take command from Kronus, and finds his opportunity. When they get out of scanner range of the Celestra, she will go dark and head back to the fleet. The prisoners on the shuttle begin to tell Starbuck of the conditions on the Celestra: fourteen hour work days, their rations cut, and not being allowed to leave the ship. Kronus officers are the most efficient slave drivers in the entire fleet, according to the prisoners. Aurora and her mates, wanted to steal a shuttle, and sneak away to the twenty first planet in the system, to start their lives again. They believe Aurora is telling the truth, when they realize, they are off course, but the shuttle is lost and running out of fuel. A plan to find the Celestra, by making a special tracking device, realized by the help of Aurora and her crew mates, is successful and the shuttle forces a landing on the Celestra. They land undetected, but only have two lasers to retake the ship with. They get more weapons, and successfully retake the Celestra, only after a shoot out while the ship goes out of control, until commander Kronus, heroically regains control, but dies in the effort. A tribunal gives Aurora, and her mates, probation because of the extenuating circumstances.
